Essentials to Keep Your Next Flight Travel with the Family Worry-Free

Travel with your family smarter, cozier, and better!

Traveling with the family is quite a herculean task. From making sure that the passports and accommodations are well prepared to creating an itinerary that covers up all the places you desire to see all within your time available and the budget allotted for your vacation. It is something that can take up a year before the date of flight to prepare therefore being organized and well-planned is a factor to consider.

Your journey is just as important as your destination, and even the smallest things can make it that much better. Avoid the hassle and stress of traveling with these seven flight essentials are guaranteed to make your family time in the sky as breezy as can be.

1. Offline entertainment

Most popular apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Spotify now give you the option to download their content for offline viewing. Before your flight, give yourself a few minutes to download all of the shows, movies, podcasts, and albums you want to catch up on. Make sure to not only download shows for your personal viewing, prepare some for your kids as well as the long travel time might bore them resulting in unwanted tantrums. Try downloading their favorite shows so that they can enjoy by themselves as well when traveling.

Of course, there’s always the original offline entertainment — pack a book or two in your carry-on if you don’t want to be staring at a screen the whole flight. Reading a book while traveling not only makes you learn more things but also relaxes you in the most traditional way possible.

2. Compression socks

To prevent your feet and calves from feeling sore and plumping up after a long-haul flight, you may opt to wear some compression socks. These improve blood flow and lessen pain and swelling in your legs. As a bonus, they’ll keep your legs feeling snug and cozy whether you’re in business or economy.

Carrying a pair of compression sock for your kids is also advisable as there are sizes made for smaller feet like that of toddlers and pre-teens as well.

3. Personal medicine

Keep all your medicine in a pillbox or plastic container for easy access. It may be easy to lose track of intake schedules when you’re crossing time zones, so do adjust accordingly and set reminders on your phone if you have to! Also, you can take some light sleep aids if you’re one of those flyers who has a hard time falling asleep sitting up.

Aside from personal medicine, don’t forget the kids’ vitamins to ensure that they will not skip taking it even though the family is on vacation. Allergy pills and first air medicines is also essential for sudden illnesses like cough, colds and fevers.

4. Hand sanitizer and wet wipes

Germaphobes, beware! Did you know that most airlines don’t usually have time to sanitize the tray tables in between flights? That’s right, and you might be doing your health a favor by doing the job yourself. Pack your own hand sanitizer and wet wipes to avoid any unwelcome diseases lurking on the plane’s surfaces.

Carrying your own sanitizer and wet wipes is a great way to be hygienic and clean at all times. No one wants to ruin their travelling OOTD while eating the onboard meal so a handy pack of sanitizer and wipes really goes a long way!

5. Power bank, earphones, and cables

Even though you boarded with a full 100-percent battery, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Charge a power bank overnight and bring your own earphones in case of wonky airplane headsets. Store all cables on your seat pouch right away so you don’t have to hassle yourself opening up the overhead cabin whenever your gadgets in danger of dying.

Aside from these handy electronic devices, preparing a backup power bank to your initial power bank is also a great preparation for those really long flight hours!

6. Oils and creams

Pack lavender oil to relieve headaches, peppermint oil to combat pain and tension, and hand cream to deal with any dryness you might encounter when facing an entirely different climate. Store all these little miracle relievers in a Ziploc bag when going on long-haul flights – and keep everything fun-sized so you can go through security without a hitch!

These oils and creams can also be used when the kids or even yourself are experiencing flight sickness or travel sickness. This relieves the dizzying feeling by the turbulence experience in most flights during an air traffic.

7. A pen

Essential, but easily forgotten, a pen is something you’ll always need wherever you may be. Make sure to have one that you can easily retrieve on your carry-on, as you’ll be using it to answer the inevitable forms, you’ll be given upon both departure and arrival.

Of course, partnering your pen with a small notepad or notebook can go a long way in taking notes or journaling your travels. May it be in documenting the prices of some souvenirs for later comparison or a simple journaling of where you have been, a mighty pen and notepad goes a long way!

Traveling is a fun activity but even before preparing for a flight, make sure to prepare a checklist for your home when you are gone for a week or two. Ask someone, a relative or a friend, to check your home every night or ask a neighbor to look an eye out for your home while you are away. Turning off your gas, Wi-Fi, and a few lights are also a necessary task. Locking your doors and gates are a no brainer as well. Make sure that there are also no foods that will be spoiled when left unattended for a few weeks, you don’t want to come home to a stinky kitchen from a week of traveling that’s for sure!

With just a little foresight, these small extras can make a world of difference. A few seconds of extra planning will make you thank yourself later on, because who wouldn’t be happy after having the comfiest, coziest experience in the sky? Everyone deserves a beautiful life, whether in the air or on land, and it’s all within your reach! Grab ahold of your carry-on (and passport, of course) and create yours now.
