Why It’s Okay To Adopt A Child

Starting a family isn’t easy. Hopeful parents have to be mentally and physically ready while also financially stable in order to welcome a new life into their arms. However, there can be all sorts of reasons as to why it may be tough to finally get into that phase. For one, the difficulty of conceiving a child has always been a dilemma for a few couples. There are also instances where a person may not want to be in a relationship but still want to have a family of their own. And that’s the beauty of adoption, it creates a family.

While the saying “blood is thicker than water” places importance in biological relationships, it doesn’t make a family less of a family if they’re not bound by blood. This is important to remember as some people still have a stigma against adopted children and the act of adopting a child. Whatever it is that others may say, family is essentially the people who love each other unconditionally in spite of their many flaws and mistakes. They’re there for one another when one needs support and in tough times where even they can’t seem to understand themselves, they’re there trying to make sense of it all without actively trying to judge. Sometimes, acts like these tend to be absent in a blood related family. So while these people may not be biologically tied to who they have adopted, it’s how they treat and care for them that really matters.

With that sentiment out of the way, adoption really isn’t a bad thing. More than something that people should find to be shameful, it’s a chance for many out there to form a family and for the child to have a place they can call home.

Adoption gives hopeful parents an opportunity to raise a child.

As mentioned earlier, there are plenty of reasons as to why it may be difficult to start a family such as the parents finding it difficult to conceive, sometimes almost even impossible. But by adopting, they are given the chance to create a wonderful family that they otherwise wouldn’t have.

One could argue that through the numerous technological advancements of science today, the dilemma of infertility can easily be solved. However, not everyone has the money for this treatment especially since it is quite expensive and not all places have these treatments available. While adoption can be expensive, through the foster care system it becomes less costly.

Adoption provides a secure and loving home for the children who need it.

Regardless of what the parents' circumstances are that has caused them to leave their little one, it is always a saddening sight to see a child alone and away from the people who have essentially given them their life.

With the lack of proper guidance as well as the loving environment needed for their growth, they could grow up to be detached adults and may have difficulties forming healthy relationships with other people because they had no one to look up to. Furthermore, they may even try to cope in ways that are detrimental to their wellbeing.

By adoption, these children are given the chance to be in a home that could provide and care for them. Not only that but they’ll also know the warmth of being with people who genuinely love and support them. Along with that, they will feel a sense of belonging and security in their identity because there will be someone in their life who will guide and teach them right from wrong. Moreover, they will have the opportunity of fulfilling their dreams and goals while recognizing that they don’t have to go through these challenges alone.

Helping a child move on from traumatic experiences caused by their biological family.

Sometimes the children that are put out for adoption are young ones who have faced much abuse and neglect. By adopting these children, these people are helping them move on from this dark phase of their life and allowing them to enter into a new one where they can experience what it’s like to be truly loved and wanted.

While it may be difficult to pull them out of their traumatic experiences, what’s more important is the adoptive parents’ sincerity in helping them be able to truly live again because no child deserves to be the subject of hate and mistreatment.

Adoption allows single adults to share their life with a child and experience parenthood.

There are some people who just aren’t interested in relationships and enjoy their singlehood or are simply celibate. Whatever the case may be, adoption allows these people to become parents too and form a family of their own without having to commit to another person or go through with the act of intercourse.

With less people to care for in the picture, it gives single adult parents the advantage of being able to focus on the needs of their child while still being able to keep up with their own as well. They don’t have to compromise their beliefs and style of parenting with the demands that may be asked of them if they had a partner.

Single parents don’t also have to be subjected to their partner’s authority and the child won’t have to witness their parents fighting over each other’s differences.

Lastly, the bond between the parent and the child becomes stronger, most especially when the parent is hands-on and actively involved in their day-to-day life. This builds the foundation of a relationship based on familial trust and love.

So despite the many opinions there is about adoption, everyone should keep in mind that adopting a child is perfectly okay. There is nothing illegal about the process nor is there a need to be embarrassed about it. Being an adoptive parent doesn’t mean that they aren’t the real mother or father. More than the connection of blood between people, at the end of the day a family is a place one can happily say is their home.
